It's an old Multi-Nation Naval Combat PVP game. The Combat itself is breddy ok, but losing a ship is stooopid expensive, and unless you're a pirate that steals ships, to avoid that pesky detail, replacing and outfitting ships gets expensive.
These Frogs in this vid put on a classic squad tactic demo, executing blocks flawlessly.
The most tedious thing about the game is the Econ. Unless you're stealing ships, everything has to be made and paid for. Even if you're stealing ships, you've still got to get them fit for combat, because the devs for some reason decided that you don't get a stolen ship fully outfitted the way it was when you fought against it, you get a stripped down ship.
Even so, all the action now is on the Legacy server, which is subscription only. The old servers are having issues, My old server (Antigua) which had all my good stuff before the Legacy server came online got fucked by a patch and never came back online just before Xmas last year. I'm still deciding whether I want to go start over and play on the Legacy Server, which plays with the old non-nerfed ruleset... or just fart around on the Test Server since that's free, but it isn't up all the time and it's only PVE, or stay F2P and start over on the surviving old server (Roberts).
Dunno If I want to sink money into a game that lost all my old stuff, and have to start over again. I do miss the PVP but...I don't know if I miss it THAT MUCH.

On the open ocean I can go 8 on 1 vs PVE ships no problem, but head in to contested waters alone and 6 vs 1 is a gang rape, no lube unless you're in a very fast ship you're getting sunk.

I chose to be a pirate again, because I like the thrill of stealing ships and raiding ports. Plus, I don’t have to worry about diplomacy or politics, just loot and plunder.
The first thing I noticed was how much harder the game was. The economy was more competitive, the ships were more expensive, and the enemies were more ruthless. I had to work hard to earn enough gold to buy a decent ship and outfit it with cannons and crew. I also had to learn how to sail and fight in different wind conditions and sea states. It was challenging, but also rewarding.
I joined a pirate clan and made some friends. We started to coordinate our attacks and ambush unsuspecting traders and warships. We also participated in port battles, where we tried to capture enemy towns and defend our own. The battles were epic and intense, with dozens of ships firing at each other and boarding each other. Sometimes we won, sometimes we lost, but we always had fun.
The game still has some flaws, though. The ground combat is still boring and clunky, and the quests are still repetitive and dull. The servers are still unstable and laggy at times, and the graphics are still outdated and bland. The game is not for everyone, and it can be frustrating and tedious at times.
But I have to admit, I’m hooked. There’s something about Pirates Of the Burning Seas that keeps me coming back for more. Maybe it’s the sense of adventure, or the thrill of danger, or the camaraderie of my clan. Maybe it’s just the love of pirates.
Whatever it is, I’m glad I gave it a chance.

It seems to be have the most ports from what I've seen. I bit the bullet and decided to start over too only difference is that I got the lvl 50 advance for my Cut Main. Even then I had a hell of a time trying to capture a lvl 50 ship with a lvl 17 fallback ship but I did it, it just wouldn't give up, it was a cunt hair away from sinking when it finally went derelict.
The biggest thing that threw me for a loop was that it wouldn't let me nose kite it and then the MF'er flipped sides on me, due to the huge difference in cannon ranges on this server. I suppose I'm gonna have to set up cannon ball production because having to pay for ammo is putting a crimp in getting fittings instead.
Though I do miss the hell out of the Condorde. I'll just ride this p.o.s. to run the captain missions until I can get an actual decent ship, and then go after the clickies.
