Ive gained 40 pounds since the pandemic started. So idk. My life has drastically changed in the last 2 years.
No surveying. More engineering; mechanics of materials, soil mechanics, etc. Not really what I went to school for, but whatever. I also do environment consulting; phase I/II assessments, soil classification, groundwater.
Being licenses in a state to practice geology increases salary for one 😏 it gives oversight to projects. Legally, I can't sign my name to any engineer/environmental/site assessment/what the fuck ever because of liability. Basically, I don't want to be doing work without being completely in charge.

It sounds like you are content with work and still moving toward better prospects. Good for you!

Modern weight gain (and most modern health problems, really) has a lot of little factors that add up, but for most people, seed and legume oil are the biggest one, specifically the massive amount of omega-6 fats in them. Take a simple look at your diet and you'll likely notice a trend in the fat content. Simply cutting out all of that kind of fat (polyunsaturated fat in general) will have a drastic change in your health. The simplest way to cut that stuff out is to eat only meat/fish and real vegetables (not grains) cooked in animal fat/coconut oil, or at worst olive/avocado oil. Some fruit too. Everything else is a snack and should be had as rarely as possible and in very small portions. All restaurants (especially "fast food") use terrible oils/ingredients (canola/rapeseed, soy, corn, etc). No restaurant is using olive oil in their salad dressings.
You know how most people get diarrhea after eating at an Indian restaurant? It's not primarily because of the dirty hands, but due to the huge amount of seed oil consumed in the sauces. As restaurant quality continues to dip, it'll only get worse.

Also, heavy cream, milk, yogurt, cheese: all good. Try and get the ones that just have the ingredients you need to make them. The cream should just have "cream" or "milk" as the ingredient.
